What is DDI?

Integration of DNS (Domain name system), DHCP (dynamic host configuration protocol), and IPAM (IP address management) into a single service/solution constitutes DDI. It includes the base for core network services that allow communication over an IP-based network.

Why DNS & IPAM?

1) Application users have to fill in a simple intuitive form with information like Application name, SSL offloading preference, HTTPS redirection preference, SAN for SSL certificate, persistence type.

2) Once this form is submitted, the next available IP address is automagically picked up from an IPAM system (Infoblox, Bluecat, TCPWave, BT IPcontrol, Solarwidns, vitalQIP, etc…)

3) The Virtual Server is provisioned on the load balancer & the IP address is reserved on the IPAM system.

4) On successful provisioning, the A & PTR records are provisioned on the DNS system.

All this is handled automagically with basic inputs from the Application teams themselves.
